How much Turkish hotels earn on Russian tourists

The Turkish Hoteliers Association (TÜROB) summed up the financial results of the first half of the year. President of the organization Timur Beyindyr says that the hotel business has acquired “harmony”: with the growth of hotel load, profits also increase.

In June, the average occupancy of hotels in Turkey in comparison with the same month of 2017 increased by 12% to 56%, and revenue per room (RevPAR) - by 47% and is an average of 45.6 euros in the country. The average price of a room (ADR) in a hotel reaches 81.5 euros, compared to June 2017, an increase of 18%.

In the first half of the year, all hotels in Turkey rose in price by 8%: the value of the room was 65.2 euros; and revenues from its sale increased by 27% to 41.1 euros.

Prices in Istanbul and Antalya rose more than the national average. The cost of a room in Istanbul averaged 87.8 euros (+ 27.3% compared to the same period in 2017), and revenue per room was equal to 50 euros (+ 65.3%). The average load of hotels in the metropolis in the first month of summer was estimated at 57% (+14%).

The leader in price growth and profitability of the hotel business is Antalya. The resort is considered the most expensive in the Republic. The average load in June - 66% - room price - 115.5 euros (+15% compared to 2017). The average income per room is 76 euros / day (+ 35.7% compared to 2017).

In the first half of the year, Antalya hotels were filled by 60% (+7% compared to the first half of 2017).

In June 2018, 826,000 Russians visited Antalya. The average number of tourists per package to Turkey in June was 2.6 people. Travelers from Russia in June took 317 thousand rooms at the resort.

With an average yield of 76 euros, our compatriots were able to bring Antalya hoteliers about 24.15 million euros in income.
The head of TÜROB said the figures would have been higher had it not been for the impact of the 2018 World Cup and other factors.

Timur Beyindyr says that the results give hoteliers more confidence to justify their partners high prices for the next season. Turkey’s new tourism minister, Mehmet Ersoy, believes that the country should increase the number of high-yield tourists, those who spend more in the country.

Russians cannot pass this test: almost 100% choose the all-inclusive system in Turkey and do not want to go to local restaurants and cafes and incur other costs. The average spending per Russian tourist in 2017 amounted to all 458 dollars.

The Republic of Turkey is hoping for at least $1,000. They want to achieve the desired power by 2023.
