CBS found dirt in Canadian hotels
CBS conducted a lengthy journalistic investigation, which found that rooms in hotels in major cities of Canada do not meet sanitary and hygienic standards. Under the “shell” were such giants as Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto – the most active pilgrimage of tourists. The sanitary condition was studied in 54 rooms in EconoLodge and Super 8 hotel chains, Best Western and Holiday Inn business class hotels, and in high-end Fairmont and Sheraton hotels.
The study found that rooms are consistently cleaned but not made safe: faucets, TV remotes, blankets and bedspreads are the most contaminated objects. At the same time, the entrance doors were much more hygienic than the experimenters expected.
Experts believe that the reason for this situation is a large workload of staff: a day for one maid has 15-16 rooms, and to clean one go no more than 30 minutes. In such a short time to conduct a high-quality cleaning is virtually impossible.
