Turkey introduces new tax for travelers from 2019
Security tax of 1.5 euros from the tourist decided to charge Turkey from 1 January 2019.
This is reported by local media. It is assumed that the tax will be collected at airports on arrival.
Initially, it was planned that the tax would be 3 euros per person. Turkish Travel Agencies Association TURSAB has asked Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy to make the fee less because millions of tourists have already paid for their holiday in Turkey in 2019.
Negotiations were held with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure - the fee was reduced to 1.5 euros per person.
The process of charging a new fee is not yet clear. According to ATOR experts, the main problem is whether to take a tax on tourists who have already bought tours to Turkey on early booking shares. Experts from Russia and Turkey fear that this payment will not fall on the shoulders of tour operators – this modest amount can add up to millions.
