Turkey expects 4 million tourists from Russia

In 2012, Turkey plans to receive about 4 million tourists from Russia, and by 2015 the tourist flow from our country will increase, presumably, to 5 million. According to Rosstat, 2.7 million Russians visited Turkey last year, which is 11% higher than in 2010.

Turkey It has firmly established itself as the number one destination for Russian travelers after Egypt lost its leading position. In turn, in addition to the beaches, this country intends to attract tourists on excursions to its central part. To achieve these goals, infrastructure is being developed in eastern and central Anatolia, Istanbul, the Marmara and Aegean Sea regions. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Ertugrul Gunai in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant.

In addition, Turkey begins to actively promote the pilgrimage direction of tourism. For the past few years, travelers can participate in the religious rites of the Orthodox monastery of Panagia-Sumela in the northeast of the country. Currently, work is underway on a similar project in the Armenian monastery of Akdamar, located near the city of Van, as well as in the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre.
