Tourists began to book tickets for January 2021
Analysts of the company Sojern studied the sale of tickets for flights to Europe.
The number of air tickets booked has decreased dramatically. Italy has seen bookings fall 94% year-on-year.
Last week, the UK showed a 63% drop in orders compared to last year and 37% compared to the previous week.
Experts note that the decline may accelerate given the expected tightening of restrictions in the country. Global demand for flights to other European countries is falling. France and Germany saw bookings decline by 74% and 65% respectively. Spain's figures fell 84%.
However, experts have seen a rise in "early interest" from travellers who prefer to book very early. Orders to the UK and Spain for January 2021 have appeared on global systems over the past 14 days, and booking levels are higher than in 2019.
In fact, the UK over the previous 2 weeks showed an increase in bookings for January 2021 by 242%, and Spain by 160%. Even Italy shows growth for next January. Analysts emphasize that travelers from the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe, and North America show special interest in such trips.
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on many industries now looks grim, but they are confident that stability and positive dynamics will eventually recover.
Experts hope that the obtained data will form the right strategies for the tourism industry to overcome the crisis.
