Tour operators may refuse charters

In recent years, the number of charter carriers in the Russian Federation has decreased, tourist operators prefer regular flights. According to experts, in 2018, the price of vouchers may increase. First of all, this applies to the resorts of the Mediterranean Sea, including Greece, Italy and Spain.

According to OnlineTur, the number of regular transportation in the number of tourist packages has increased over the past six years. 26% of organized tourists used regular flights in 2012, and 52% in 2017. This year, according to service analysts, the figure will reach 60%.

Igor Blinov, the representative of OnlineTur, believes that this is primarily due to the decrease in the charter segment. Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, believes that the trend is most noticeable in the popular destinations of the Mediterranean Sea - Greece, Italy and Spain.

Packages with regular flights are traditionally 15-20% more expensive than with charter transportation. Lomidze believes that “the negative impact on the market is not felt: sales for the summer are conducted under early booking programs, which traditionally involve discounts of 15-20%.”
