Scientists have determined why you need travel impressions
Swiss neuropsychologists have found that travel memories are different and help create a person’s identity.
Scientists came to the conclusion that regardless of the duration of the trip, remembering about it is the most long-term and helps to form the personality of the tourist.
Lutz Jenke, a professor at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Zurich, believes that “the journey and subsequent memories of it contribute to the formation of individuality.” We are what we remember, or rather what we remember about ourselves. Such memories are a priority in the field of human experience, so they are the main pillars of our personality.”
The study found that more than 40 percent of people traveled on at least one trip that changed them. 20% of respondents said that after the trip they were able to find a new hobby. While traveling, nearly 70% of tourists take photos to preserve the experience, and 50% say they will never delete those photos.
When people are away from stress and everyday life, they can absorb a lot of vivid details, and travel “pictures” are stored for a lifetime, as they are associated with positive emotions. The study found that 55.9 percent of travelers remember things they’ve spent with family and friends, 53.21% remember things they’ve met, and 47.7 percent remember things they’ve met.
