The success of early booking campaigns: Do tourists feel the end of the pandemic?
Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) is sure that Russians felt the end of the pandemic was approaching and began booking tours for the May holidays and summer in advance.
Maya Lomidze recalled that in 2020 and 2021, due to the uncertainty associated with the pandemic, tourists did not pay for their vacation long before the trip, they were afraid of cancellations and postponements.
“Tourists are now feeling the end of the pandemic approaching, although no one knows when it will end. But the readiness to book tours in February for the May holidays, in three months, compared to the depth of sales that was in 2021, is impressive. On internal directions, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Stavropol Territory are in the lead.
The growth of demand for rest contributes to the reduced prices offered by tour operators for early booking promotions. “Early bookings with tour operators are valid until the end of March. The cost of summer holidays from May to September within these promotions is about 15-30% lower. The difference in the discount depends on the country, the object of accommodation, other factors. It is already obvious that from April 1, the cost of summer tours will increase by at least 30% and in some areas – by 50%.
Tourists and tour operators are saddened by the situation with Turkey, where the cost of tourist products has seriously increased due to rising prices in the country for all components on which rest depends.
