On December 15, tankers with fuel oil Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239 crashed in the Kerch Strait, resulting in a fuel spill.
During the crash, four tanks with oil products were damaged, about 2.4 thousand tons of fuel oil got into the sea. Part of the fuel oil washed up on the coast near the resort Anapa 54 km of coastline were polluted.
Reservations of hotels, sanatoriums and children's camps in Anapa decreased in December-January due to pollution of the resort's beaches with fuel oil, but now the situation is beginning to improve. Hoteliers expect a surge in deferred demand after the completion of work on cleaning beaches and are actively preparing infrastructure for the reception of tourists in the summer.
