Moscow

In these May days, Berlin...

Berlin can often be seen on television these days, and many people remember how much blood and effort was spent by soldiers and officers of the Red Army in the capture of the capital of Nazi Germany. Standing at the Reichstag, involuntarily recall the shots of hoisting the Soviet flag by our intelligence officers, the banner of victory. Today, the Reichstag is the building where the plenary sessions of the parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany take place, here laws are passed, elected by the German people. It is interesting that any resident of Berlin and guests of the city can visit the Parliament building. Tourists can look at the city from the roof of the Reichstag, look into the plenary hall. The historic building was built in 1884-1894 by Paul Vallot and rebuilt in 1995-99 by Lord Norman Forster. The observation deck on the roof of the Reichstag building is at an altitude of 47 meters. From here, a unique panorama of the city opens, you can see the entire government quarter of Berlin. Climbing the 230-meter ramp, you can get to the highest level of the dome. The new dome above the Reichstag is a unique ecological structure: a cone with its 360 mirrors, located in the center of the glass dome, provides daylight into the plenary hall. Due to the complex design of the dome, the waste air from the meeting room is used to further heat the building. Photovoltaic installation (300 sq.m.) on the south side of the roof, serves as a source of clean electricity. Entrance to the Reichstag is free and open until 24 hours (admission until 22.00). There is a very cozy restaurant on the roof, you can order a table by phone, and in this case you do not need to stand in line to get to the Reichstag. Look closely! On the right of the roof you can see the signature of a Soviet soldier, preserved since 1945 - "Astrakhan".
