In the European Union there are proposals to keep the borders closed for another year
Milos Zeman, President Czech Republic He said the opening of borders would lead to a second wave of epidemics and that EU borders should remain closed for at least another year.
According to him, if citizens of the country “visit countries where the virus continues to spread”, then in the Czech Republic may start a second infectious wave.
Accordingly, the President urges Czechs to rest in their native country and appreciate the “beautiful Czech landscape”. Back in March, when the Czech Republic closed its borders, local politicians already estimated that travel abroad could be limited to one or two years.
Health Secretary Adam Wojteh is sticking to more "soft" restrictions. We cannot expect unrestricted travel abroad this summer, but Czechs can travel to certain countries where the epidemiological situation is good, such as Croatia and Slovakia.
Travel agencies, guides and hotels are asking the government to specify at least a preliminary date for the opening of the border, but in response they hear statements that it is impossible to predict the development of the epidemic in the Czech Republic and other countries.
In the Czech Republic, one of the first EU countries, the gradual lifting of quarantine restrictions begins in May.
