An exhibition of Russian icons is held in Italy
In Milan, from September 25 to October 23, you can see 38 ancient Russian icons brought here from the Orler collection in Venice and some other collections of the world. The exhibition is held at the Ambrosia Library.
Icons are works of art of the XVI – XIX centuries. Each has origins from the most important centers of icon painting in northern Russia (Kholmogory, Kargopol, the Onega River region, Vyg, Belozersk, Bolshaya Ustyug), central Russia, the Volga region, Yaroslavl and the Urals.
Among the works at the exhibition you can admire the icon "Resurrection - Descent into Hell" of the first half of the seventeenth century from Solvychegodsk, which belonged to the famous family of merchants and entrepreneurs, Stroganov.
The exhibition is open daily from 10:00.
Entrance from San Sepolcro Square is free.
