In the Crimea will be canceled roaming

Igor Artemyev, head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, said that in the interests of developing tourism in Crimea, national roaming on the peninsula will be canceled, and mobile operators will be able to compensate for losses due to the growth of tourist flow.

Igor Artemyev said this at a press conference following the results of the expanded meeting of the FAS Board in Crimea.

According to the decisions taken by us, companies and Crimean companies, there will be no so-called national roaming. Roaming will be absolutely excluded, says I. Artemyev.

The motivation, in his opinion, is that vacation on the peninsula has become so attractive for Russian tourists that in 2019 a record number of tourists will visit there.

Igor Artemyev: As the experience of Russia shows, big companies told us that if roaming went away, they would suffer huge losses. In fact, due to the fact that their revenue increased from the increased number of subscribers, they only won. Their income, in fact, even after taxes, only increased. This will also happen in Crimea.”
