In the UAE, tourists can go to prison for importing medicines without permission
Warning for tourists from the Ministry of Health UAE submitted to the authorities of the country. These are prescription drugs for which travelers must have a special permit, otherwise they can go to prison.
All travelers who enter the UAE must obtain an online permit to take medicines for personal use before entering the country.
The British Foreign Office has already notified tourists and urged them to fill out the appropriate form if there is a need to take medicines. The UAE Ministry of Health has published a user guide, it has rules for filling out the application and a list of supporting documents.
"If you come to the UAE without this permission and the necessary documentation, the medicine will not be allowed in the UAE and you may be prosecuted under UAE law," the Foreign Office warned.
The full list of drugs is still being established, but it is clear that the list will include drugs that contain codeine, and individual anti-stress drugs, such as diazepam.
If the medicine is allowed, travelers can bring a three-month supply.
The UAE is known for its absolute intolerance to drugs. For their use on the territory of the state, a person can receive a prison term.
