In the popular route "Golden Ring of Russia" appeared a new city
The city of Uglich received an official status in the tourist route “Golden Ring of Russia” – the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky issued the city a certificate of participant of the national project. Uglich became the ninth city on the route.
Vladimir Medinsky asks the project representatives to pay attention to the quality of tourism standards, and add no more than one city to the Golden Ring every year. The decision to accept new participants in the route will be taken by the cities of the Golden Ring.
The Golden Ring is a popular tourist route through the ancient cities of North-Eastern Russia. Journalist Yuri Bychkov owns the authorship of the idea and name - in 1967 in the publication "Soviet culture" published notes about ancient Russian cities, their common name was "Golden ring".
Until the spring of this year, Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal, Vladimir participated in the Golden Ring.
