Putin approved the law on the abolition of free baggage for non-refundable air tickets
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that makes free baggage for non-refundable air tickets unnecessary. The document was published on the official portal of legal information.
For holders of return tickets, the maximum weight of free luggage will be equal to ten kilograms. Airlines should inform travelers about the conditions of transportation of their belongings.
The adopted law gives the carrier the right to establish the norm of free hand luggage transportation, guided by the rules approved by Rosaviatsiya. The dimensions of the object should allow it to be placed in the cabin of the aircraft.
The airline may refuse the passenger in the flight when he will not pay for baggage under the terms of the air transportation contract.
On July 25, the Federation Council approved the law on the abolition of free baggage for passengers with non-refundable air tickets. The document was approved in the final reading by the State Duma.
Non-refundable air tickets have been circulated in Russia since June 2014, after the relevant amendments to the Air Code came into force.
