Sales of air tickets abroad increased by a third in Russia
In the service for the sale of tickets Biletix reported that the volume of sales of tickets to Russia for international flights after the fall of the ruble from 8 to 12 August increased by 31%, if you compare it with the average daily sales from 1 to 7 August.
Biletix experts note the direct impact of the exchange rate on the cost of flights on flights of Russian airlines to international destinations, and on flights of foreign airlines, due to the fact that the settlement between participants of the air transport market is in currency at the internal rate of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In Russia, the IATA rate is associated with the official rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and changes every week with a rounding of 50 kopecks on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The head of the press service of Biletix said that the Russians “reacted to the fall in the rate.” On August 8-12, international airfare sales increased by 31% compared to average daily sales from August 1-7. According to the expert, there are no changes in the internal direction.
In the U.S. Congress a few days ago was introduced a bill with anti-Russian sanctions. Since Wednesday, the national currency of the Russian Federation has lost more than 4 rubles against the dollar.
