Russia will have its own tour operator for space travel

Russia may have its own operator for space travel, Interfax reports, citing a source in the rocket and space industry.

The source said that now the issue of creating a Russian tour operator, which will organize space flights of tourists to the ISS, is being discussed.

The company will most likely have Russian jurisdiction, but will be able to operate abroad, as the main target audience is foreign tourists.
At the moment, according to Interfax, the American company Space Adventures carries tourists to the ISS.

The press service of Roscosmos explained that the creation of an official operator has become necessary to avoid cases of fraud and speculation on the topic of space tourism.

“The form in which this work will be organized has not yet been decided. All assumptions are only possible scenarios for the development of events, which will still be worked out and studied. Which of them will be selected as a result, it is too early to say, the press service said.
