| This year, the Night of Museums in Yekaterinburg was visited by about 60 thousand people, the press service of the city administration told the EAN news agency. The city-wide interdisciplinary project “European Night of Museums” was held in Yekaterinburg for the fifth time. On the night of May 14-15, all 50 planned sites in 42 institutions worked in the city. “Night of Museums” in Yekaterinburg this year was visited by at least 60 thousand people, which was a record for the entire five-year history of the project. It should be noted that in 2010, about 45 thousand people became visitors to the city-wide multicultural event, and in the first years of the project, museum sites gathered only about 5 thousand visitors. According to eyewitnesses, this year there were many representatives of foreign countries among the guests. In particular, the Museum of History of Yekaterinburg was visited by citizens of Sweden. The main goal of the project is to bring the cultural heritage closer to visitors, first of all, young people, to show by unusual means the importance of museums in the life of modern society, the diversity of the world museum community. The tradition of attracting visitors to unconventional times for museums has existed in the world for more than 10 years, and statistics testify to the great popularity of the event among the public. For Europeans, participation in such actions has long been a national and even family tradition. In Yekaterinburg, this project was first implemented in 2007. Marina Kolesnikova, European-Asian News.
