In Helsinki, the ice was turned into a carousel

On a huge rotating 200-ton ice floe carved in the Gulf of Finland, there is even a sauna.

The creator of the ice carousel Janne Käpülehto - an energy specialist and author of popular science books - for the first time built an ice floe carousel at his dacha in Lohya.

The unusual design, for which he used a chain saw, an axe, a shovel and a boat engine, aroused great interest, and then Käpülehto decided to do something similar in the Finnish capital, but - four times more.

So the island of Kuusiluoto has an ice merry-go-round, but already environmentally friendly - it works from an electric boat engine that uses solar energy. Its diameter is 36 meters, and weight is estimated at 200 tons. In addition, you can steam on the ice in the sauna.

Ice Carousel is located in the eastern part of Helsinki, the nearest address is Hämeentie, 160.
