The Great Egyptian Wall? Egypt completes construction project around Sharm el-Sheikh
Authorities in the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh continue the project of the “great wall” – a barrier of concrete and a high metal fence that will separate the resort from the Sinai desert.
The purpose of its construction is safety considerations, and "blocking the entry of garbage into the sea."
News of the Sharm el-Sheikh wall first began to surface in February 2019. As explained by the journalists of the opposition newspaper New Arab, the thickness of the concrete part of the wall reaches 6 meters, and the total length is more than 37 km.
The wall is supposed to completely “close” the resort, separating Sharm el-Sheikh from the outside world, it is equipped with cameras and stretches from the checkpoint north of the city on the road to Dahab to another checkpoint in the southwest, the road to El Tor.
If the Sharm el-Sheikh Wall leads to the return of British and Russian tourism, then we agree with it. If not, all this will be for nothing.”
British tourist flow to Sharm el-Sheikh resumed recently and when it will open Egypt It is not known for Russian tourists.
