Vladimir Putin supports increase in sales of preferential tickets to Crimea

On March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he considered it possible to continue expanding the list of preferential categories for the sale of air tickets to Crimea.

“What can be done here? The most realistic way, if not impossible, is to expand the number of these regions and, perhaps, somehow expand the category. We need to think about expanding these categories gradually, but in general we need to increase revenues and reduce transportation costs, the president said at a meeting with representatives of the public of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Vladimir Putin mentioned the problem of pricing flights to the peninsula and its compliance with the market. “In fact, our leading aviation companies use a global pricing system. It's not just me, the industry, who's not sure what the computer thinks is fair. This is the demand, please be kind enough to pay.”

Earlier, Russian tour operators said that tours to the Crimea are sold at fairly low prices. According to the general director of the tour operator Intourist Viktor Topolkarayev, on average, a trip to Sochi or Crimea costs 19-20 thousand rubles without transportation, about 28 thousand with transportation per person. Travel abroad costs an average of 40 thousand rubles.

Experts believe that the expansion of the category of beneficiaries will be able to increase the flow of tourists to the peninsula, but it is too early to talk about a serious expansion.
