More and more Russians discover Antarctica

The number of Russian travelers who prefer non-traditional tourist routes and choose Antarctica is growing every year.

The minimum cost of the program for 10-11 nights is 200-260 thousand rubles. There are more budget options for 9 days from 186 thousand. The most popular duration of the trip is 12-14 days.

Travel to Antarctica is preferred by men aged 50-55 years who work in the business sector.

According to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, in recent years there has been a positive trend in demand for tourist trips to Antarctica. Thus, in the season 2012-2012 the continent was visited by 34 thousand 354 travelers (for comparison last season this figure was 19 thousand 445 people). The largest increase in tourists is observed from the United States (10,677 in 2012-2013 against 6,148 in 2011-2012), Germany (3830 against 1823), Australia (3724 against 2433), China (2328 against 614). The Russian market still has more modest indicators, although it also shows positive growth dynamics. In the 2012-2013 season, 366 travelers from Russia visited Antarctica, which is 154 people more than last season.
