Commissioning of double-decker cars postponed

Very soon, double-decker cars will run on Russian railways, in particular on the 104th route of the Moscow-Adler train, along with ordinary cars. Initially, double-decker cars were supposed to go on a journey in early August, but the leadership of Russian Railways postponed the launch until approximately November.

At the same time, prices in double-decker cars should be lower by 22%, but given the introduction of dynamic pricing, it is almost impossible to check this.

Compositions in which double-decker cars will be used are not much different from single-decker ones. In total, there will be 15 carriages (usually 20 cars on this route in the summer), and the capacity of the entire train will be almost the same. 12 cars - ordinary single-storey compartment cars, "staff" compartment, "SV", restaurant car.

The capacity of the two-storey compartment car is 64 people, that is, 8 cars-coupe for four on each floor. At the same time, such coupes will almost not differ from their one-storey "brothers", except that the height of the ceiling, on the upper shelves will not be so spacious. In addition, due to the low ceilings, there will be no upper luggage compartment in the corridor. Also, due to the large weight of the car, shelves and nets for the transportation of personal belongings of passengers were minimized.

The corridors in the two-story car are located on different sides of the car. The door, unlike conventional cars, only one, located at a standard height, in order to get into the compartment you will need to either go down or climb several steps. In the opposite side of the double-decker car, also on the "medium" level, there are three toilet rooms.
