What to see in Gdańsk

Gdansk is a port city with a centuries-old history on the Baltic Sea coast, where trade routes, craft traditions and memorable pages of European history intersect. The narrow streets of the old town, the rich architecture and atmosphere of the seaport create a unique impression: it is easy to feel the spirit of the Middle Ages and at the same time the modern liveliness of cultural life.

Manufactures and facilities

The man-made sights of Gdansk are impressive in diversity: the Long Market (Dlugi Targ) with its ornate facades and royal highway, Maryatskaya Street with ancient city houses and stone gates, the majestic Olive Cathedral – a former Cistercian temple with unique acoustics, as well as numerous museums and monuments telling about the maritime and craft traditions. Not far from the city stands Malbork Castle - one of the largest medieval fortification complexes in Europe, often included in traditional excursion routes from Gdansk.

Natural attractions and places

The natural corners around the city complement its image: the picturesque Olive Park with quiet promenade alleys and green meadows, the embankment of the Motlava River overlooking the historic port, as well as the beaches of the Baltic coast in the vicinity of Gdansk, which give fresh sea air and space for walks. In the vicinity there are forest trails and park areas where you can relax from the bustle of the city and enjoy nature.
