Cheboksary

Cheboksary Bay is one of the most beautiful areas of the capital of Chuvashia. Today it is a favorite place of rest of citizens, a place for all holidays and folk festivals.

The bay in Cheboksary appeared relatively recently. Earlier in its place was the old part of the city, which was flooded during the construction of the Cheboksary HPP. The bay is surrounded by an amphitheater of steeply rising slopes, on which the urban development is picturesque. It was formed during the XV-XX centuries and continues to form in our days. Along with the monuments of past centuries, there are modern buildings with interesting architectural solutions.

May 9, 2003 on the shore of the bay was opened the Monument of the Mother - Patronage, which became a symbol not only of the city, but of the whole of Chuvashia as a whole. Here are the local attractions: Opera and Ballet Theater, Philharmonic, Transfiguration Monastery, Monument of Military Glory, Victory Park. The water surface of the bay is decorated with powerful streams of fountains, which in the evening are painted in different colors.

In summer, you can have a great time on the Gulf: ride boats, catamarans, rent bicycles or roller skates. There are all kinds of attractions for children. In winter, on New Year’s Eve, the residence of Santa Claus opens here. Entire families come here to spend time in the fresh air: skiing, skating, rolling down the slides on a sleigh or just playing in the snow.
