Speciality of Markov-Vogau with a walk on the Vorontsov field
Description:
On our tour we will walk along one of the most interesting streets of Moscow, Vorontsov Field. There are still preserved ancient merchant mansions, most of which belonged to the German family of Vogau and Markov. We will look into one of the alleys and admire the magnificent red-brick building of the Evangelical Hospital, built with the funds of the Vogau family. You will learn about this historical district of Moscow, about the entrepreneurial activity of one of the richest Moscow-German families in pre-revolutionary Russia. We will also talk about charitable and medical institutions.
After our walk along the Vorontsov field and alleys, we will go to the Markov-Vogau mansion. We will explore the halls of the mansion, including the magnificently preserved oak living room.
In addition, in the mansion we will visit the museum exposition dedicated to medicine. Today there is the “Russian Museum of Medicine” of the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.A. Semashko.
The collection of the museum has 300,000 items of storage. These are personal belongings, documents, logs of operations, medical instruments and equipment of the great Russian medical scientists, etc.
