Museum of Ukrainian Folk Architecture of Life and Children’s Creativity
Donetsk region, Slavyansky district, Prelestnoye village
About the company:
The establishment of the museum dates back to 1983. The idea belongs to A.I. Shevchenko – a well-known local historian, teacher and artist, who, together with his students and like-minded people from their ethnographic expeditions brought objects of material culture and folk art. The exhibits were brought from all over the district, independently restoring them.
Today, the collection of the museum has more than 1000 exhibits and is constantly replenished.
The architectural complex under the open sky is a detailed realistic panorama of the rural courtyard of the XIX century. Here you will see a hut, a barn, a forge, a windmill, hives and a well. All exhibits were brought in disassembled state from neighboring villages, then restored and collected.
The central place in the exposition is occupied by a typical hut of the XIX – early XX century – Slobozhanskaya four-wall, it is 110 years old. This is a bleached house with a reed-covered roof, the main place in which the oven occupied.
No less interesting is another building in the complex - a chamber (barn), which could afford to build more prosperous peasants. It was cut from wood and stored grain or tools. Here visitors can see the collected collection of tools and products of rural woodworkers. It is noteworthy that the chamber for the villagers had magical power, as it was inaccessible to the demonic tribe, which, according to the peasants, had fun in the yard at night. It was in the chambers that the newlyweds spent their first wedding night and lived there for some time after the wedding, there they hid young children and a loaf of brides before the wedding.
Forge near the barn for about 100 years. Here is a collection of metal products - knives, sickles, plows and much more. Unique still operating horn and sledgehammer with large and small hammers.
The oldest building in the museum of the village Prelestnoye is considered a windmill. She's about 200 years old. Inside you can see the wheel of the mill mechanism, agricultural equipment and millstone. In the museum complex you can also visit the hall, where a collection of samples of folk art of Slobozhanshchina and a full-fledged museum of children's creativity, the only one in Ukraine, are exhibited. And in the restaurant visitors will be offered dishes of national Ukrainian cuisine, in compliance with all traditions of cooking.
The museum complex of the village Prelestnoye attracts many tourists from different countries. The villagers themselves are making a lot of efforts to ensure that their native village does not become empty, like neighboring villages, so that it “breathes”, develops. Special attention is paid to the promotion and development of “rural” tourism. Every visitor will be surprised not only by the hospitality of the charmers, but also by the natural beauty of the region.
