Geg waterfall
Gagra, Gega River Valley, Abkhazia
Description:
It is difficult to find a person who has never heard of the beauty of Georgian landscapes. Indeed, this country is famous for its natural wealth and numerous attractions, annually attracting millions of tourists from many countries. The most famous and undoubtedly the most majestic of them is the Geg waterfall, located in Abkhazia, near the city of Gagra.
According to experts, the height of the waterfall is about 70 meters. It is located in the northern part of the Gagra Range at an altitude of 530 meters above sea level, thereby determining the climate in this area. It is almost always cool here, and it snows most of the year. It is possible to visit the waterfall only from May to November, since closer to the winter season the roads to it become almost impassable. Not far from the waterfall, you can find a grotto formed with the help of water, which has oozed from crevices for thousands of years. Water can be used for drinking, as it is very clean and completely harmless to health.
If you still decide to visit the Gega Falls, it is not superfluous to describe in detail the route that will run through no less amazing places for which Abkhazia is so famous.
You can reach the waterfall by the road leading to Lake Ritsa. There are signs on the road, so getting lost will be difficult. You can reach it on foot or by car, but only if you have an SUV. Otherwise, the car can be left in the parking lot at the turn. Due to political differences, it is strongly recommended to enter from Georgia.
Do not deny yourself the pleasure of visiting such a beautiful and enchanting place, and be sure - the view of the Geg waterfall at any time of the year will not leave you indifferent.
