Description:

The famous waterfall of Maiden Tears is one of the places that travelers to Abkhazia do not miss. However, excursions are not complete without visiting this place. And without an excursion, popular rumor will lead to a waterfall.

On the way to Lake Ritsa on the 2nd km of the Ritsin Highway on the slope you will notice thousands of colorful ribbons. They are tied to roots, blades of grass, ledges and stones. This wall is the famous waterfall Maiden tears, and beautiful ribbons are left by visiting tourists.

Water, punching its way through porous limestone, cleansed and thin, clean streams flow down, falling drops resembling tears. There is no continuous flow of water falling from the gentle cliffs, hence the name - Maiden tears, a kind of dripping waterfall. It is loved by both locals and visiting tourists.

There is a legend according to which an evil witch threw a girl in love from a cliff to separate her from her lover. The girl managed to cry out that her tears would be poured out by the evil witch. So she started the waterfall.

The popular belief says: you need to make a wish, tie a ribbon near the waterfall, then the desire will come true. You have a wish – welcome to Abkhazia!
