Men's Tears Falls

Ritsa Nature Reserve, Georgia

Description:

Men’s Tears Falls is a beautiful natural waterfall on the Yupshara River, located in the southeastern part of the Ritsin relict national park. Most of the year it is a powerful stream of water, breaking down steep cliffs among green mosses and mountain trees. In autumn, most often in September, the waterfall is very small - you need to know about this when planning a trip.

With this waterfall is associated with another legend, with a consonant name - "Maiden tears", located 20 kilometers away. The legend tells about the shepherd Amre, whose beauty was once envied by a mermaid, a resident of the river. She decided to kill the girl by throwing her off the cliff. The tears of Amra flowed through the mountain streams and reached the river where the water god saw them. He became angry with the mermaid, and she turned from fear to stone. What does it have to do with men’s tears? And the thing is, Amra's fiancé, Adgur, was hunting in a mountain forest nearby. He felt that his beloved was in trouble, and realized that he would not have time to help. His tears fell on the rocks and became a waterfall.

Near the waterfall, a bridge is organized for easy inspection, and the place itself is perfectly visible from the Ritsinskoye highway. It is believed that a ribbon tied at the foot will grant wishes.

A pleasant romantic stop at the "Men's Tears" is included in the program of excursions to Lake Ritz, which can be ordered in nearby cities (Gagra, Sukhum).
