Lykhny is the largest village of Abkhazia, the ancient capital of the Abkhazian principality. Here is one of the seven sanctuaries of Abkhazia - Lykh-noha. The landmark of Lykhna is the now destroyed complex of the X century, which includes the summer palace of the Abkhazian kings and the summer residence of the princes of Chachba, as well as the functioning cross-domed temple of the Assumption of the Virgin of the X-XI centuries with a rich fresco painting of the XIV century. On one of the walls there is an inscription indicating the appearance of Halley’s Comet in 1066. Inside the temple is the tomb of Prince George Chachba-Shervashidze, under which Abkhazia became part of the Russian Empire. Throughout its thousand-year history, the temple has retained its unique original appearance. At your request, we can come for real wine, chacha, honey, cheese and fruits.
