First gorge
lizawa village, Rybozavod district, Agaraki village, Pitsunda
Description:
“First Gorge” is a picturesque, unexplored part of the city beach of the Abkhazian village of Agaraki, located eight kilometers from the city of Pitsunda. Near the beach there is a beautiful Pitsunda Reserve, where an ancient pine grows, which smells wonderful under the rays of the hot southern sun, and in places grows right on the beach. The relict pine grove has healing properties, and keeps cool even in the sultry heat.
The gorge is also called the “Monastic Gorge”. The name has been preserved since ancient times, when monks settled in this beautiful, then still deserted place, next to a small source of pure mountain water. The monks have not been here for a long time, and the Holy Spring still pleases visitors with the freshness and coolness of the water. To the sacred spring from the mountains, through the village of Agaraki, a cool river flows along which you can wander, hide from the heat. There, near the source, there is a small cave.
Many tourists from all over Europe come to rest in the Monastic Gorge, enjoy the cleanest water, sandy beach, magnificent views of the mountains. The sea here is very clean and gentle. On the reefs, opposite the sandy beach, mussels grow, there are crabs, and there are good conditions for diving. During the sunbathing season on the beach is much less than in Sochi, Adler and other resorts, but in the Pitsunda itself there are quite a lot of people. You can enjoy the mountain air, shoot and taste the harvest of citrus fruits, fish, taste young wine. The New Year’s Eve in Abkhazia will be unforgettable (the temperature in January to +18 degrees).
