Chavchavadze Street 20, Sukhumi
Description:
The Sukhumi Botanical Garden was founded in the 30s of the 19th century by the physician Bagrinovsky with the help of Lieutenant General N. N. Raevsky, currently it is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the region.
The collection of this garden includes more than 5 thousand different species of plants, which occupy an area of about 30 hectares. The most famous exhibit of this garden is the linden, which grew here even before the appearance of the garden and it is more than 250 years old. This tree survived several bombings, looting during the Russo-Turkish War and even a hurricane that caused great damage to the garden.
