In the center of the city of Sukhum, the beautiful capital of Abkhazia, a monument was erected that was dedicated to the memory of all the victims of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict that occurred from 1992 to 1993.
This war is called the Patriotic War and on August 14, the Defenders of the Fatherland Day is celebrated. The memorial is regularly approached by people not empty-handed and pay tribute to the dead, whose names are carved on the monument and slabs laid out around the pedestal.
