River Argandab
Description:
The Argandab River is one of the most famous rivers located in central Afghanistan. It begins near the city of Ghazni and flows southwest until it reaches the channel of Helmand. The approximate length of the river is 400 kilometers. The lower reaches of the river are used for irrigation, making the surrounding land very fertile. In 2008, a project to modernize the dam began, which led to a twofold increase in irrigated territory.
The cost of this project is estimated at 50 million dollars. The initial goal of the project is to irrigate as much land as possible, as well as increase crops and population. Since the project was a great success, it was decided to increase its funding and duration. The people living along the river are grateful to the government for such a useful and important project.
