Bost Airport
Description:
Bost is a large airport in Afghanistan, mainly serving local airlines. Bost is located on the southern outskirts of the city of Lashkargah, on the left bank of the Helmand River.
Bost Airport was established in 1957. American engineers took an active part in its construction, and the US government allocated money for the construction. For its time, the airport was quite modern, but in the following years it was almost not modernized. Bost underwent a large-scale reconstruction only half a century after its opening - in 2008. The gravel runway was replaced by a more modern, asphalt runway. The length of this new GDP was 2300 meters, and the width was 43 meters. After the replacement, Bost immediately became very popular, and today it is recognized as one of the busiest airports in Afghanistan.
In general, Bost is considered a rather outdated airport, but in terms of passenger safety, it does not occupy the last place. And given the very dangerous political situation in the country, this parameter plays a decisive role.
