Chagcharan Airport

Description:

Chagcharan is a small civilian-military airport located in the mountains of central Afghanistan, right on the banks of the Hari River. The airport serves the city of Chagcharan and is also used by NATO troops and the Afghan National Guard.

Chagcharan Airport has a small runway and a single terminal. The length of the local GDP does not exceed two kilometers, but a good asphalt surface allows the airport to accept not only light, but also medium-tonnage, as well as some heavy aircraft. Nevertheless, a big problem for air navigation is created by the height on which Chagcharan is built - the airport is located in a mountainous area, at an altitude of 2250 meters above sea level. The air here is rarefied, and piloting is difficult.

In general, Chagcharan Airport is a typical Afghan airport - it is outdated both mentally and physically, but is still in operation. Most flights are reserved for military aircraft, but Chagcharan is also open for commercial flights.
