Kabul International Airport

Description:

Kabul International Airport, also known as Hwaja Roesh, is the largest airport in Afghanistan.

It was built during the Soviet Union. Due to it, the country wanted to achieve a high level of organization of international tourist flights, but due to the civil war of 1979, the plans of the state were not realized. The airport was captured by the Mujahideen in 1992 and destroyed by the U.S. military in 2011.

In 2006, Japan, which supported the country, adopted a project to restore the airport. According to it, a new terminal was created, which allowed to increase passenger traffic to 100,000 people by 2011. In 2009, a new international terminal was opened and a new radar system was installed.

It is currently the base airport for Safi Airways, Ariana Afghan Airlines and Kam Air.
