Mother Teresa's beatification day

Description:

Mother Teresa.
The beatification day of the outstanding Catholic ascetic of our time, Mother Teresa of Calcutta – October 19 – is celebrated in Albania as a national holiday. Today, most Albanians consider her the most outstanding representative of their people. Mother Teresa's name is Tirana International Airport and the largest hospital in the Albanian capital.

Although Mother Teresa came from a family of Christian Albanians living in neighboring Macedonia, Albanians, 75% of whom are Muslims, show the most respectful and pious attitude towards her. In recent years, especially among intellectuals and young people, there has been a growing interest in Catholicism, including as a factor contributing to Albania’s integration into Europe.
