Liberation Day of Albania
Description:
This holiday is celebrated in honor of the liberation of the country from fascist occupiers. During World War II, Albania was occupied by fascist Italy. Since September 11, 1944, the troops of fascist Germany joined the occupiers. Thus, the Germans hoped to prevent the Allies from entering Yugoslavia from Greece. A guerrilla army led by communist leader E. Hodja liberated Shkoder on November 28, 1944, and the entire territory of the country was cleared of invaders the next day.
