Fairytale Berat

The “City of a Thousand Windows” is located in a picturesque region at the foot of Mount Tomorr on the banks of the Osum River. The magnificence of the landscape can be endlessly contemplated from the observation platforms of the medieval fortress, on the territory of which locals now live, whose houses are adjacent to Byzantine churches, cathedrals and mosques erected during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. In 2008, the historic center of Berat was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

After a walk through the fortress, we will stop for a traditional lunch in the tavern, where you can feel yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

During the tour, you will also walk around the Mangalem quarter with a visit to the National Ethnographic Museum, where we will get acquainted with traditional household decoration and household items, see the national clothes of the Albanian people.

The trip to Berat is designed for a full day. On the way back, at your request, we can stop at the winery, which produces Albanian wines and traditional rakia from the best varieties of local grapes.

It is important in sunny weather to have a headdress, a bottle of drinking water and comfortable shoes.
