RIDE TO THE SOURCE OF THE BARE EYE

Description:

There are many amazing places around Saranda that definitely deserve your attention! This is the unique source of the Blue Eye, which is the main tributary of the Bystrica River and amazes tourists with its crystal clear water of bright turquoise color, and the monastery of St. Nicholas in the town of Messopotamia, which was built in the 8th century on the site of an ancient temple. Since then, amazing bas-reliefs with the image of mythical animals have been preserved on the walls of the temple. Another interesting place is the Lecursy Castle, which was built by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent on the site of the village of Likos Oros in 1537. We offer to see all this during the tour.

So, a walk through the local attractions will begin with a visit to the Blue Eye spring, which is located in a picturesque place, at the foot of a majestic mountain range. We will admire the amazing nature of this fabulous reserve, look at the bright colors of the source, in addition, you will hear a beautiful legend about the origin of the Blue Eye. We can also drink coffee in a tavern on the banks of a picturesque mountain river or dine with delicious trout, which is grown right at the spring! After a short rest we will visit the Monastery of St. Nicholas in Messopotamia, which was built at the dawn of the spread of Christianity in Albania, but was destroyed during the Ottoman yoke. The monastery is located in a quiet place, which is filled with peace, tranquility and true God’s grace! We will look at the ancient bas-reliefs, admire the picturesque local landscapes and continue to the top of the hill, on which the Lecursy Castle is located. From the observation deck of the castle we will look at Saranda, the Ionian Sea and the island of Corfu from a bird's eye view.
