Lead mosque

Rruga Kazenes, Shkoder 4000, Albania

Description:

The Lead Mosque in Shkodor is a popular monument. Its construction dates back to 1773. On the front door of the mosque there is a sign in Albanian, confirming this fact. Its construction was inspired by Pasha Bushati Mehmet. In 1863, a major renovation was carried out. Its name was due to the fact that the elements are connected with liquid lead, and the domes are decorated with plates of lead. The mosque is multi-domed, there are no minarets on its territory. This violated the canons of Muslim buildings, which distinguishes this building from other buildings. Many times the mosque was destroyed and looted. Due to the soft floating soils, the temple sags. It is much lower than it was originally built.

You can get there by road (5 kilometers from Shkoder). You can also arrange a walk.
