St. Armenol's Church

Andorra La Vella, Andorra

Description:

Compared to its European contemporaries, the temple is not impressive in size, resembling rather a small rural church. However, the Romanesque style, which is felt everywhere, creates a sense of seriousness and impressiveness of the building. The strict composition is characterized by a combination of simple and regular geometric bodies - a cylinder and a cone, a prism and a pyramid, verified simply and clearly. The decoration of the walls of the church is laconic and even stingy, which brings the temple together with the medieval castle.

The interior of the church, like the building itself, has been remarkably well preserved for almost ten centuries and evokes a sense of the inviolability of divine authority. It is good to come here not with a noisy excursion, but alone, to feel the atmosphere of this amazing place without haste and interference.
