Coma Pedrosa mountain
Description:
Coma Pedrosa is the highest mountain peak of the Andorran Pyrenees, located in the northwestern part of the country. Coma Pedros is 2,942 meters above sea level. The nearest settlement to the mountain is Arnisal, which today is considered the most popular resort for ski tourists.
The mountain is accessible for walking, is not technically difficult, but due to the duration of the climb requires quite a lot of effort for the tourist. The height difference from the beginning of the ascent to the top is 1362 meters, the total climb time is 4 hours and 30 minutes. The traditional tourist route begins at the Ribal Falls, located at the southeastern foot of Coma Pedros, and the first kilometer goes in the direction of the summit, then, turns to the left, and along the southern slopes of the mountain follows the valley of the Coma Pedros River past the Troil Lake. Passing the valley bed, the route turns north towards Lake Estani Negre. Behind this lake, turning once again to the north-east, the path along the rocky passage follows to the highest point of Andorra. But there is an easier way to get to the top of Coma Pedros, using a ski lift from Arinsal to Peak Negre, but it may not be as interesting.
The famous hiking route to the highest mountain of Andorra and the proximity of the ski resort of Arinsala make Coma Pedros a popular tourist destination.
