Argentina Flag Day

Description:

Sole de Mayo is the national symbol of Argentina.
In May 1810, the Argentine independence movement began using blue and white cockades.

On February 18, 1812, the national cockade was officially approved. A few days later, a flag was erected in these colors.

Blue and white symbolize the sky and snow of the Andes. The sun, added in 1818, is the Sole de Mayo, the national symbol of Argentina. It recalls the appearance of the Sun in the cloudy sky on May 25, 1810, when the first mass demonstration in support of independence took place.
