The Temple of Liberty

Libertad 769, 1012 Ciudad De Buenos Aires, Argentina

Description:

The Temple of Liberty is the main synagogue in Buenos Aires. Unlike most religions, the synagogue is not a temple. A Jewish temple can only be built on one place, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The central synagogue of Buenos Aires is located on the street. It traditionally hosts Jewish weddings and prayer services. The synagogue has courses where children and teenagers study Hebrew and Torah. Argentina is home to the largest Jewish community in South America, with more than 200,000 people.

The facade of the synagogue is traditionally decorated with the six-pointed Star of David, an ancient Jewish symbol. The windows are decorated with mosaic stained glass. There is a museum of paintings at the synagogue.
