Lavalier Square
Plaza Lavalier, Buenos Aires, near the Colon Opera and Ballet Theatre
Description:
The square was named in honor of the military commander Juan Lavalier, a hero of the War of Independence. It is a picturesque green corner, shady and quiet.
Back in the XVIII century on the site of the future square was a wasteland, and urban quarters began much further. Then an arms factory was built here. And only then did the square appear in its modern form.
The square is surrounded by buildings that attract a large number of tourists - here are the National Theatre of Cervantes, the building of the Argentine Law Center, the Opera and Ballet Colon Theatre, so you can often see people in business costumes near the square.
