Caminito Street
Caminito st., Buenos Aires, Argentina
Description:
Kaminito Street is an open-air museum and at the same time an ordinary street. In Spanish, "caminito" means "path, path", and this unusual place is located in the quarter of La Boca, in Buenos Aires. The street is named after the famous tango "Caminito", written in 1926 by composer Juan Diaz Fliberto.
Kaminito is a visiting card of Buenos Aires and a real mecca for all tourists coming to the city. The whole street is a pedestrian zone, there are no cars. The houses along Kaminito are painted in bright colors, on the sidewalks there are funny statues in human growth, and dozens of cozy restaurants huddle. During the day, there is a flea market, where souvenirs and needlework are briskly traded, here artists sell their canvases, and everywhere the rhythms of tango sound. And in the evenings, the whole street turns into a continuous concert hall, where street musicians demonstrate their art, competing for the attention of listeners.
Kaminito Street is the epitome of the Latin American spirit, hectic, cheerful and upbeat, and just a great place to relax and buy some souvenirs to remember Buenos Aires.
